Directing Search engine to Site Map

I have noticed that Google does not pick up all of our 500 products even with the Site Map located on front and other pages on the site. I was wondering if there is any way of placing a code or something that guides the search engine directly to the site map on actinic.

It appears that Google times out when spidering so many of our products and having them to pick the site map first may speed up the process and starting listing some of our major products.

Any one that has had experienced this or has any advice to give much appreciated

Spiders do not time out. If the first spider does not finish looking at a site, then it (or one of the other spiders run by the same company) will come back, again and again, until it has crawled every available link.

If one spider bot gets a 404, most will try the same link on a second or even third crawl.

You could add front page direct links to your major products, which would emphasise their importance.

May be worth spending some time on the page titles - the homepage for example just says "home" which is not great for SEO reasons
