    Customer e-mail address

    Hi,

We are currently developing our first Actinic based site. We have sucessfully imported our existing customer list for login purposes but we have a problem with the customer e-mail addresses.

We only hold e-mail addresses for 10% of our customers and would like to collect more as the customers start to use the site. If a customer proceeds through the checkout they get asked to provide an e-mail address. However, if an existing customer logs in, during checkout they do not get asked for an e-mail address or even shown the one we have on record, unlike the rest of their contact details which are displayed.

Ideally I would like the checkout page to show the e-mail address we hold on record with the option to update it, but even a blank field that could be used to enter an address that the receipt would be sent to would be better than nothing.

    Any ideas on this?

    Many thanks.

    Hi Robert

If you set the 'Invoice Address' and 'Delivery Address' options for the 'Buyers' tab both to 'Allow User to Select or Enter New Address' then it will mean that customers will have the options to edit their address information that is supplied with the order - including specifying an email address if required.

      Hi Chris,

Thanks for the solution. I thought there was probably an easy answer having looked for a complicated one!

It may not be obvious to every visitor (we never noticed it), so we will amend the page text to highlight this option.

      Cheers
