Adding the same item to the cart multiple times

Hi there,

Our site is in final testing and I have noticed a bug when adding the same product to the cart several times.

1) Add Product A once and you see one line in cart (qty=1)

2) Add Product A again and you now see two lines in cart (both qty=1)

3) Add Product A again and the first line now says qty=2, second line qty=1.

4) Keep adding Product A and the qty on the first line increments, but the second line sits there with qty=1, until you Update or Checkout when the second line disappears completely!

This only happens for single products with no components. If I repeat the above test with products with components things work okay, and the qty just increments by 1 each time you add the same product (as you would expect).

Hope that is clear - any ideas? Something wrong with our setup or a bug?

It's not a bug my v7 sites don't do this.

Only happens with single products (no optional score). If you include the score it's fine.

The reality is no-one will ever order more than one copy but I would like to know why it's doing it !

I tried to replicate this with Brandenberg Concerto - 1st Movement CL009P

1) Added to basket, pressed continue
2) Added to basket again generated 2nd line - moved to checkout - only one line, quantity one, correctly priced.
3) Cancelled checkout and added to basket again - no effect - neither of the two lines in the basket were incremented
4) Add to basket again - no effect - neither of the two lines were incremented. Removed both lines and left site.

I think you will need support's help on this - unless copying the original script back in from the originals folder solves the problem (obviously, if the script is modified, you will need to make a backup first and re-implement the changes one at a time till the script breaks again).

Thx for trying it Bill. The main order script is modified quite a bit so I'll see what a support call brings.
