Adding products to a completed 'with-discount' order

Can anyone help?

We've got a sale on offering a percentage discount on the total basket value. If we want to add an extra item to the checked out order, doing it offline, the discount on the additions isn't coming off. Is there a way of adding the item with the continuity of the discount?

Make a manual adjustment before processing the order. I'm not aware of a way of it being done automatically.
