    Editing Catalog on 2 Computers

    Hi,

I Have catalog (7.0.4) installed on my computer at work, and on my computer at home,

Now for the most part this works fine (I move the site from one to the other by sticking a snapshot on a USB stick)

But occasionally there is going to be someone working on the computer in work (making changes to the catalog), and i will want to do some work at home,

is there a way for me to be able to do this, I understand that if changes are made on the work machine then i import a snapshot, it will overwrite the changes with whatever i have done, but i was looking at the flat file and hierarchical imports,

Can i, for example make a CSV file with the info i am adding, then just 'add' that to the catalog when i get into work,

would the CSV file need info on ALL the products in the catalog or just the new ones, and more importantly IS THERE A GUIDE SOMEWHERE that will show me how to layout the CSV file or do i just have to guess!

    Thanks in Advance

EDIT- One of the things i want to do, other than adding products, is to sort out my shipping and postage costs at home, then import them into the catalog in work (never seem to find the time to do them IN work) can this be done as well

    Hi Andrew

    A.
IS THERE A GUIDE SOMEWHERE that will show me how to layout the CSV file
You are on the right track here. If you wish to simply update the catalog at work, all you need to do is create a CSV file (flat or heirarchical) and run an update on the other PC. For a list of all valid fields acceptable in Import files, please refer the Main Help menu and search using the keywords "Valid fields". The 2 main topics you need to check are
    1. Valid fields in Heirarchical Files and,
    2. Valid Fields For Importing

You can also find sample CSV import files in the C:\ProgramFiles\ActinicV7\Sites\Site1\Common folder

    B.
sort out my shipping and postage costs at home, then import them into the catalog in work
Similarily there is a feature to export the shipping tables in the spreadsheet format and import into the other machine (Update or Replace). To export the shipping tables, go to File | Export and you will be given 3 options.
Choose Shipping Tables and follow the steps in the wizard. On the other PC, bring this file in from File | Import.

    Hope this helps.
