    Large site questions

I've been to see a client today who've been looking at using Actinic Business for their site and with me having used Catalog for another site I'm happy to go along with Business. The thing is though that they have 10,000 plus products to sell online. Is the database behind Business robust enough to handle this amount of products and how many simultaneous connections will it support? Should we be looking at going with SQL Server instead and how easy would this be to implement alongside Business?

Also, does anyone have experience of importing information into Actinic from an AS400? Is the easiest way to dump the stuff from the AS400 into a CSV file and import that into Actinic?

    Cheers

Actinic is HTML and CGI driven so you are not connecting to a database.

How busy do they expect to be?

Better make sure they have good hosting

      Gary,

Cheers for clarifying the situation with the database. I should've realised it wasn't database driven... maybe the heat fried my brain

I'm not sure if they've really thought about potential numbers of visitors yet but they are a well established "bricks and mortar" business. As you say though, the hosting will need to be pretty robust. I'll have a search through the forum to see if there are any recommendations.
