    Single product pages

    Hi

My site currently uses sections with products (around 20 per section). For SEO purposes I have been advised to switch to one product per page. I have started to experiment and realise this has to be done via sub sections with one product per section (otherwise the sub section appears in the section list). However, when I create the subsection it appears (with a thumbnail) in the section list. How can I create single product pages without affecting the sections that are currently in place?

These new product pages are mainly for SEO purposes, I do not need customers to shop from them or locate them while in the site. I am already using extensive extended info pages for almost all products.

Create sub sections for each of your products and hide the subsection but not the product. Create duplicates for each product and reduce the text and image size to suit - then create a link to the product sub section.

You must allow customers to find and buy from them - if you make it so they cannot get to them then the SEs cannot either. As for your ext info pages you should revert IMO back to the standard Actinic layout as by creating the single product you are vastly imporving your site.

      Thanks Mal

Didn't want to bother you again until I've got the hang of this! Speak to you next week as discussed (unless I need some more help).

        Well that din't take long....

If I make a new subsection and add a duplicate product then hide the subsection on the dialog panel, the product becomes hidden as well? What am I doing wrong?

I understand the principle but I am trying to do this in V6 and the instructions on page 24 of the V7 AUG seem to have different option buttons available - for instance no"links" tab I can see? - can I do it in V6 the same way?

If you have no links tab then it will be a bit more difficult - you will need to hardcode a link to the single product page.

Sounds like I should wait until the site has been upgraded to V8 - right?
