Heres a weird one.
I am developing an Actinic website which I am hosting with Claranet.
Viewing pages on this site is painfully slow - upto a minute to load a page. I have no problems with response times when viewing any other site including another Actinic site I have developed which is hosted by another company.
I am connecting via a 512k connection from Telewest Broadband.
I have no problems uploading pages to this site via ftp. The average response time for a ping to this site is 15ms.
I have spoken to other people (albeit on BT broadband) who have no problem with page response times for this site.
I have spoken to Claranet who have checked the server and found no faults and pages download for them in seconds. I have spoken to Telewest who say that there is nothing in their network that could cause his problem.
Telewest have suggested that it may be to do with the configuration of my PC.
I have the same problem when running IE6 and Netscape under Win2000 and WinXP and running Mozilla under Linux all on the same PC. I have tried disabling my firewall and removing the webcache in the browser configuration.
Phew !!!!!
Has anybody else ever come across this situation? Can anybody suggest a specialist newsgroup that I could post this to or a website that could give me further ideas on what to try?
TIA
