1&1 V. Server Home Pro - Please Help!!

Hi

Can anyone please help me with this, we have just moved our site to 1&1 on their 1Virtual Server Home Pro service and cannot get the site to run the scripts. Cannot get much help from 1and1 and have spend days trying different things to get it running.

When running the Advanced Network Set-up test I get the error messages:
Actinic is not able to run the CGI scripts on the server. It appears as if the scripts are not installed. The most likely cause is that you have an incorrect CGI-BIN URL. If you've never uploaded the site, then you should do it before a download of orders. If you've uploaded the site ever, then Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.


followed by:

The web server returned error code 404 - Requested URL not found. This means Actinic can not execute the CGI scripts on your web site. Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to check the web setup.

Try using ../acatalog/ as the path from cgi to acatalog (i.e. with the extra '.')

I leave the ftppath blank, but if you want to use it try with the extra . as well.

Make sure the permissions are set correctly and scrpting is enabled in your cgi-bin. Although i reckon the above post is the answer.

I was advised to have the 1&1 Business Pro package. Not sure if this is the same package as yours but it works fine for me. All I had to do was create a folder on the server called 'cgi-bin' and the rest worked fine. Total set up time about 10 - 15 minutes. Make sure your package is Actinic compliant. It sound like the scripts can't be run for some reason. You shouldn't need to change any permissions in my experience with my 1&1 package.

Thanks for the responses, tried all the above but still no joy. Managed to enable the permission for access to the CGI-Bin and that now seems ok but cannot find the directory for Perl. There is a directory called bin and I have tried that but doesnt seem to work. I will have to ring support again!

Hi,

Are you sure the the Home Pro package offers perl script handling. I had to upgrade to the Business Pro (Linux) package from the Home package(MS).

Thanks Mark I have a horrible feeling you are correct and I have wasted a week trying to get something working that wont! I will contact them tommorow and change it accross, about now I am willing to try anything!

Mark is right. None of the 1&1 home packages include Perl.
