Exclude a product from cart level discount?

I sell gift certificates, and want to exclude these from my cart level discount. Is there a way to do this?

Hi Pat,

Sorry, but I'm not too sure which discount you mean. If using an 'Order Level' discount then I'm afraid that this applies right across the store on the value of the cart. However, if you are using a 'Cart Contents' discount then you could simply not add the 'gift certificate' product to the 'Product Group' that the discount is based on.

I meant order level. Sometimes I have a one-day sell for x% off the order. But I would really like to exclude the GC's, so folks don't stock up for the year of spending! I've been hiding GC's from the site on those discount days, but was hoping there was a better way.

Split your products into two Product Groups; GCs in their own group. Whenever you want to hve your discount days choose to apply to Cart Contents instead or Order Level and exclude the GCs.
