The login page has to be a cgi link.

Different themes use different methods of navigation links, some use cgi links other relative links. You have a choice.

What you have done by replacing the cgi page links with relative links in most cases as well as putting a sitemap link on your homepage is perhaps the best solution. That said a lot of sites that use cgi links that also have a sitemap link rank very well. The SEs are wiser now with cgi links than in the past.

Can you suggest an easy way to change them or alternatively get rid of the section links from the login page all together. Regards Rob (PS:I know I could just ignore them, but they bug me and I want rid of if possible!)

For a start, after backing up, try removing this in your Act_Primary:
        NETQUOTEVAR:NAVBLOGIN
        Then test your catalog pages.

Also in Design Options - Navigation - try removing the text and images from the Login Icon.

Hi, that would just remove the login button...but I want the login button. I use the best seller template and on the left hand side of the login page all of my section links display... they are what I want to alter or remove, because they still have the sessionid etc bits. Any other suggestions? thanks for your help so far. Cheers Rob

I would really be questioning what your SEO company is asking you to do here. Are they used to working with Actinic - I suspect not otherwise they would know that changing the login urls is of little use in SEO terms.

Hi, They are not asking me to change the login page, but have suggested the other pages. I paid them to SEO my site, but really it was not money well spent (basically I got 6 content rich pages written, keyword monitoring and I had to provide the keywords)...it was on telling them that I was not too happy with the results that the "problem" with the link addresses was highlighted...so I have taken steps to change them. It is me who wants to change or remove the section links on the login page because I am now using Web Ceo myself and doing my own SEO and these long addresses keep showing up and I want to get rid of them. I know I am being picky, but I only look after one site so can be. If it can't be done easily then I will live with it, but like everything in actinic it's just another challenge to get to grips with if I can. Cheers for the input...kind regards Rob

Ahhhh - I see. Software tools like WebCeo can only give recomendations its the application of those recomendations that can improve SEO. As you say you are now in control which IMO is the best way to do things as SEO companies are generally bad news. IMO you should not worry about the urls as they will make little difference to your SEO - you have fixed the ones that may have caused a problem.
