Hi I am tying to put together a product in a style similar to this page:

I am having a problem getting my head around attributes, components, choices etc.

You can achieve that quite easily in Actinic. You can have a section with 3 sub sections as in the example provided, then each of those sub sections can display the products you want displaying. You can use a fragment to display the image and use a compact product layout that will give you a similar effect.
