    Hard Disk Disaster

    Hello There

I wonder if anyone has any experience of a hard disk disaster. Basically the disk where Actinic was has gone kaput - I may be able to recover the data from it at some point, but I'm going to have to wait and see about that.

I have a new machine that I have reinstalled Actinic on.

I had copied the entire contents of my Actinic programme folders onto an external hard drive as a back-up. I attached that to the new machine and copied all of that over into the new Actinic folders.

This obviously wasn't the right approach because firstly when I click on my actinic icon it tells me it can't create a new site because there is already a site in Site 1. Is there a way to stop it wanting to create a new site and just open the existing Site 1?

Secondly, it says it can't find a registry key. I hate to admit it, but at this point in time I am not sure where I have filed my registry key - can Actinic send it to me again if I have lost it? And once I do track it down - how/where do I insert it?

Of course, I expect this isn't something most of you have experience of. Oh dear ...

quick update - assuming the registry key is the same as the Authorisation Key - then I have it, I just need to work out what to do with it!

Hang on. When you first install ACtinic it will create the Site1 folder on first run. So try and delete the folder and restart Actinic. If it starts up ok at that stage then import your latest snapshot.

ah, well that has certainly helped! After deleting the lot and starting again - leaving my backup copy well alone for now - I was invited to enter my authorisation key, so that's a start.

But then it went wrong on me. After a sudden horrible thought about the fact I've just bought a new pc with Vista I've done a search on the forums

Here's hoping the V7 patch does the trick!
