    New upload error message

    Hi all

    I am currently moving hosts.

I did my first upload to my new server last night. Everything went well (I think) and my new site is working. I havent changed the DNS yet.

At the end of the upload an error message appeared stating something like ....

    An error occured...problem merging files
Sorry I foolishly clicked ok and forgot to copy the full message.

After I clicked ok the upload pop-up closed. Everything seems fine but I just wanted to follow up the message incase something is wrong that I can't see.

Try another upload. Does it always give a merge error?

Problem didnt occur again upon a second upload.

Just waiting for claranet to give men my auth key and I can get rolling with my dedicated server!

I receive the same error on an ad-hoc basis (also with CLARA) and now always ignore as nothing untoward has ever happened as a result and as you found subsequent uploads take no longer and tend to merge OK.

I used to have exactly the same issue on 1and1 about a year ago - occasional merge errors. Uploading again always went ok and I just ignored it.

I think the 'merge' perl script takes longer than expected to run sometimes and hence times out.
