homepage goes missing

hi,
i am helping somebody with their site. when you load the website you can see the homepage but when you go into the products, you can no longer back to the homepage (no link). it isn't a major problem but i would like to know for future reference. Also, in Actinic in design options-navigation page the home link is shaded so you can't change it.
