How to add a hit counter.

Hi,

I have just set up my new web site. Im not that good at programing and i need to set up a hit counter on my web site, so i can tell if anyone is loging on.

Please could somone tell me the best hit counter to have and how i add it on to my site. Im using Actnic V6.

Hi Mohan

You would be best to use your webhosts stats to find out information about visitors to your sites. If you check the help or FAQ's for your webhost, there should be instructions on how you can access your stats pages.

Hit counters are considered amateurish, and have no real place on a commercial website. They don't really tell you anything other than how many files have been accessed on your site, and can bear little or no relation to actual visitor numbers.

I would make use of the web stats as provided by your host. These should show you site traffic.

Visible Hit counters tend to look quite unprofessional, and home site ish
