I would like to know after completing my actinic site if there is a Free hosting page with cgi folder to upload my files.

streamline.net is offering 3 month free trial. You can upload your site there to test it. However you have to remember to cancel it, if you are not going to host with them, before 3 months are gone as they are going to charge your card automatically if you don't

Long term, there is no such thing as free. If there is, it is because there will be side effects such as very poor performance or pages littered with ads. You get what you pay for with hosting and starter packages are very cheap. Hosting a site through a company that offers it for free is probably the worst mistake you could ever make.

Not wrong there lee - its the kiss of death. Why spend several hundred pounds on software and may hours building as site only to spoil it at the end. Actinic hosting can be bought for as little as £19pa.

I didn't know you could get it that cheap, but yeah however much it costs, it's pure madness going down the free route. Would you buy a ferrari and use "crisp and dry" for the engine oil? - certainly hope not.

I noticed this the other day, technoweb have annual Actinic hosting for £24

if you want really cheap hosting, they are probably a better bet than a general host because they have an upgrade path and are also Actinic experts and so should be more able to help if things go wrong.

I haven't used their hosting myself but lots of people on here have, and they are regular contributors on this forum.

I would try and identify where you hope to be in say 6 months or 1 year because changing hosts is a pain and costs in your time and lost sales even if the change over goes smoothly.

My site got busy much quicker than I expected and my first host charged my shocking rate for additional bandwidth. My second host offered me a better deal on bandwidth but I experienced unacceptable down time which has cost me hundreds in lost sales and my third host is a 1/4 dedicated server with a generous bandwidth package and guaranteed uptime of 100%. The package isn't cheap though.
