How do you get the stock level feature to work in v6?

    Hi,

One of our customers is having problems getting the stock level feature to work on the latest version of 6. They have entered various stock levels for each product (sweets) and updated the website with these.

However, if someone orders, for example; more stock than is available; or a product runs out of stock with one order and someone else orders the same sweets that have run out; Actinic still allows that person to order the out of stock sweets and doesn't give any warnings to the customer.

Are we missing something totally obvious; it just seems that this feature doesn't really work? Is there any way to warn a customer that the product is out of stock before they complete their order?

Many thanks for any help, this has been puzzling us for a while.

Yeah thanks, I've been reading through. Although I think I'm right in that it doesn't really work that well from various posts...

So basically, the stock levels don't change at all unless an upload is done from the Actinic software on the site owner's computer? And, the site owner should really change the maximum quantity orderable to the number of items in stock each time to increase their chances of getting the stock control to work in some way or another? This seems particularly tedious if this has to be done each time - she is selling penny sweets and stock will vary enormously!

I gather from a disgruntled post last year that this feature doesn't really get any better with later versions...is this correct? I guess with the way actinic works it is fairly impossible to update on the fly.

Stock control is the same in V6 and V8. Some changes have been made to when stock level is adjusted after downloading but generally it is the same.

Mole End Software - Stock Control Mole query

I'm digging this post up again as I still have a customer having problems...I have a question mainly aimed at Jan... Or anyone who knows would be great.

Does your Stock Control Mole update the max quantity orderable automatically? So if they did a download and upload this would change each time to match the stock?

My Actinic Customer just had a problem where they had 4 chocolates left and their customer ordered 13, and order was allowed to go through. She's finding it increasingly difficult to keep on top of stock levels and I was wondering whether your software would automate this? She is using version 6.1.5

            Thank you.

In case Jan isn't around, the answer is yes.
It's one of the most important benefits that the mole has, IMO!

editted to add...there is a checkbox in the options for the Stock Control Mole to choose whether to set the max qty orderable to the current stock level

As Tracey said, it will do that.

... by the way Tracey did you know that you were my 2nd customer for automation (or the stock control mole as if was called then), one of my longest standing customers :-)

and, to be honest, it's an underplayed feature, IMO

It's a basic function that Actinic *should* do itself and doesn't.

Yes, totally. I can't believe they've not included it in new versions. It's crazy

Give it a break Isaac, it's not quick or easy choosing which drinks you want in the drinks machine or which hold music you want on the phones.

if its any consolation, i love their on hold music. sometimes i call just to listen to it. and listen to it using my headphones like some obscenely expensive mobile phone ipod.

                            i do y'know.
