    Worldpay via Streamline Internet Account

Hi. Is anyone using Worldpay via Streamline. I am changing PSP and Worldpay has given me (not the real numbers of course)

    Prime contact CMS user ID:
    wp1234567

    Prime contact CMS password:
    AbCdeFg

I have entered these into the Worldpay PSP section as

    Merchant ID
    Secret (& Confirm) key

    and uploaded actinic.

In a transaction, as I pass from actinic to Worldpay, there is a non specific error message that the information provided by the Merchant is not correct.

    Any suggestions?

    Barry,

not sure what you mean by "Worldpay via Streamline", we use WorldPay as PSP and we use Streamline as well (as a method of getting payment faster). When you apply to WorldPay you need to make sure they understand that you're using Actinic since the details they will give you are slightly different from the details for other ecommerce packages. I' ve been through this with them myself. I told them I was using Actinic, they gave me the details to enter, I told them that there was no 'secret key' and reminded them I was using Actinic, they replied with profuse apologies and then gave me the correct data. I would speak to WorldPay and make sure they've given you the correct info. I would add that I have spoken to them on a number of occasions and they have always been extremely helpful.

Thanks for the reassurance Steve. I have an email sitting in the support inbox at Worldpay. I hope you are right.

        Just to clarify this....

you can use WP to process CCs for you in 2 ways, one is with a merchant acct, the other is without.

So if you have an merchant acct with Streamline you also use WP to do the online processing. You pay a % to Streamlone and a % to WP.

If you do not have a merchant acct with anyone, you use WP as both your merchant and CC processor and pay WP a bigger %.

WP is useful for start ups who can not persaude a bank ot give them a merchant acct.

In fact not that many people use WP if they have a merchant acct as there are other other providers of online CC processing (eg Protx)

          Hi Jo,

In fact I am setting this up for someone who is buying the website from me. He definitely has an online Merchant ID with Streamline. (His counter top terminal is also with streamline). They have told him that he has use WorldPay as the PSP. My guess is that although he is not new to trading he is new to online trading and they seem to want 'new' accounts to start this way.

So Worldpay will pay Streamline who then transfer to his Bank. Sounds expensive I know but he seems to have a good deal by joining the Federation of Small Businesses.

In any case I think the User ID and password they have given him is not suitable for Actinic even though he was clear about using Actinic in the planning.

          Regards,

Funnily enough I was talking to Streamline today, who said whilst they would like people to use WP (Nat West, Streamline, WP are all owned by the same group) they acknowledge that protx is often cheaper (£20 versus a fixed % - so if you do less than £2000 per month CC processing WP is cheaper, if you do more then protx is better - assuming WP quoted 1% transaction fee).

The guy at Streamline also said they were aware that were losing alot of business to Protx but WP seemed to be too inert to see it.

In the past I have also told WP to set up integration for Actinic and they still went ahead with the default "junior" acct.

I now have some new (Actinic) codes from Worldpay and need to wait 2 days for test transactions. Worldpay Support do seem very helpful but the sales pitch from Streamline did not really delve into questions about 'full transaction account ' or 'pre-Authorisation account' . I think more care ought to be taken by them when advising new business.

you can circumvent that delay by phoning them up and politely ask them to test whilst you are on the phone.

I had a visit from a Streamline rep regarding a terminal for my other business. I asked about online rates (with FSB), they are better that what I am paying now through HSBC plus I am paying £20pm to HSBC and £23.50 to Protx. He said that I can pay one off £100, no monthy charges, same or slightly lower % rates including Worldpay fees. Also I can save more by switching my business banking to Natwest as I would save on the payments into my account as they would be treated as internal transfers.

I am searching the forum now for more info on Streamline and Worldpay (thats how I found this thread) has anyone with streamline and worldpay have any advice on the realiability etc? I use Pre-Auth for all my transactions.

                    Streamline & WorldPay

We use the BankDirect scheme as it was called when we set it up with WorldPay. It may have a different name now. Initially we used their Beureau system, but waiting 30 days for payments when your business is growing and you have to buy pallets direct from Europe is crippling... So we got an Internet Merchant Account with Streamline. At the time they were offering decent deals if you were a NatWest customer, using World Pay and Streamline... as they are all jointly owned by RBS. However, following NatWests shabby treatment of me as a customer over the years we moved to Barclays. We have had no problems with the WP Bank Direct system itself, as we get paid typically in 3 days.

We do find that with the amount of trade we are doing that we should move away from WorldPay as their rates are not competitive - and they clearly do not care about being competitive.

                    HOWEVER...

We have another and more unpleasant reason to move too. They are exposing us and the public to a large amount of fraud in the form of credit card theives using our site to 'test' cards. The fraudsters buy card numbers 'wholesale' most probably from databases that have been hacked or from people working in large companies where card details are not secure enough. We have spoken to many people whose cards were tested on our site via the WP internface, and some had business cards that had never been used online.

The fraudsters then buy small items on our sitem leave bogus details details in the checkout and if the card passes the 'security' then the fraudster goes and steals around £1000 off it on other online shops, mobile top ups etc. We do not lose money as we can see that they are fake orders... except that WorldPay charges us for the transactions (and even refunds).

I must point out here that we complained very vocally about this to WP, but they only used my calls to pitch more products and services at me... I can tell you that their fraud risk assesment saoftware would not prevent any of these transactions from going through, unless you decided to manually authorise transactions, which is great if you sell a few high value items, but for many shops would generate hours of wasted admin time each day.

For example, on one occasion a fraudster passed over 40 cards on WorldPay's payment page using ONE cart ID, all on the same IP address, and over a long time... 30 minutes plus. I think any smart system could bounce IP addresses behaving like this. Imagine going to a supermarket and trying to pull oput card after card to pay for the goods... how many cards would they let you try before they stopped you?!

I complained to WP for 10 months that their system was a test platform for fraudsters, and they refused to acknowledge the problem or do anything about it unless I reported them to the police!

I found from cardholders querying the transactions that the cards had been used elsewhere and I was amazedto find one company having to employ someone dedicated to just filtering out these fake orders.

As a product of this attitude the fraudsters continued to do tests on 1000s of cards, commiting tens of thousands of pounds worht of fraud, testing dozens of cards each day right under my nose and without me able to really stop it, and without any guidance or support from WP.

We have been working with the Police on this and one gang of 8 Nigerians are awaiting trial, having been caught receiving goods at an address identified from my IP records and my analyisis of the fake orders in a 40 page report with help from a couple of other retailers who lost real and expensive items after tested cards were used fro real on their sites... But no thanks to WorldPay who would not discuss it with me for 10 months, would not co-operate with Streamlines fraud team or even the police!

Personally I cannot recommend using WorldPay - I would avoid giving WorldPay any money unless your business really relied on it.

SO - we have started to move away. We are now using Secure Hosting as the PSP with Streamline doing acquisition of funds the into our Barclays account. Its hundreds of pounds a year cheaper, and seems to have none of the nonsense described above.

By the way, for any WP legal ppl - EVERYTHING stated above can be verified. :-)
