Digital Download file handling security ....

    Hi,

I tried for the first time to automatically buy and AutoShip a Digital Download file.

    Everything works fine..... but!

In tandem I asked my brother to do the same on his PC, in America.

However he was sent the very same link details, as I had, which means that while the file is available to download, (default 24hrs), anyone can be sent this e-mail and download it too.

    This doesn't seem very secure.

    Curious.... S.

P.S. Also, my bro entered America in his state province section and the VAT came off the tot price. Good, but what stops everyone selecting a, US and a province and not paying VAT?

The country code won't match their credit card country, which will give them card validation problems.

Once the item is downloaded the purchaser can then add to his file sharing program which is not secure ... or whack out to his mates as an email attachment... or post on a BB.... upload to YouTube ... etc etc.

Once in the public domain keeping control is nigh on impossible so 24 hours suddenly looks very secure.

Interesting, see what your saying..... last of my worries then Actinic's methods.

Any ideas that I could look into?
I have had a look at this "Lock Lizard" PDF control system, but they want £1200 pa subscription and require customers to download their interfacing software.

Might be a put-off for my customers?

        Food for thought.... thanks, S.

P.S. Alan, got you on the CC stuff, I see what your saying.
