    Catalog maintenance (unused images)

Following on to `clearing up` of v7 webspace and resources, I wonder if theres a way to identify what images are actually needed by your website? Over the last few years we've constantly added to our image folders and I think its time to strip them right down to whats actually needed only, as opposed to archived (older and/or unused) images, which we can obviously store elsewhere on the pc.

There must be a method of doing this, as the snapshot obviously only `takes` the current images. (Explore the snapshot and c & p all images into (empty) folders of the same name as used currently?)

    Maybe theres a better way?

I did a size and date created sort on the folder, removed all i didn't think were being used into a second folder, put the site in test mode and uploaded. It will then tell you what is missing, so just reinclude the ones it asks for.

You could also run a query on the database field, listing all image references used and cross reference it to the folder.

Can you still `open` snapshots and look at the contents? Of so, how do you do that? I thought you could, I'm sure I've done it in the past.
