Payment History - Adding Transaction Types

    Hi there

I've had a dig around but can't find an answer to my problem.

I would like to add 'Paypal' to the list of Transaction Types available when updating the Payment History when processing orders.

At the moment we've got :

    Credit Card Debit
    Debit Card Debit
Wallet Card Debit (whatever that is ! LOL)
and a variety of other choices but not Paypal.

I don't mind changing one of the available choices if necessary but I can't fathom that out either LOL

Ignore me - I've sussed it out !!!!

To help anyone else out looking for this - I've gone in to 'Design Text' and searched for 'Wallet' and have found it mentioned.

I've now amended the text to 'Paypal' !

Oooh I love it when I fathom it out - LOL !

I spoke too soon ! LOL

I've just gone in to test it with an offline order, choosing Paypal as the payment choice and when I go in to Payment History afterwards the 'Wallet' options are still there but no Paypal - Not feeling so clever now

Hayley you should hook up with Gavin, he liked talking to himself in the forum also. However, he has disappeared now he's got all his problems sorted, so maybe not such a good idea.

Have you got this sorted yet?

It sounds to me that you are trying to amend an existing payment method, rather than just adding a brand new one to the existing list. Have you tried adding a new one or am i not understanding your problem?

I don't think it's the payment method itself that Hayley is trying to add/amend..more the way it is described on the invoice (is this right, Hayley)

Paypal paid orders are noted (in the "transaction" column of the payment details AND on the invoice) as "credit card debit" and do look rather misleading (especially on a customer invoice)
I'm assuming that Hayley was wanting this to say "Paypal" when selected in an offline (and maybe online) order.
I have to admit, this is something I thought about changing before but am nore sure if Actinic automatically assigns "credit card debit" as the payment "type" for Paypal transactions and therefore it may be unchangeable?

          Anyone know?
(and my apologies, Hayley, if this isn't what you meant and I have hijacked your thread!)

That sounds better than my understanding of it. I guess technically that Paypal payments are from those methods would be their answer.

I'd be surprised if it can't be changed in the database itself or in the text ids, but that is yet another wild guess at something i'm not even sure i've understood.

You can change all of the text that appears on the printed invoice in design text.

                Hi Jan,
                Thanks, I know that.
The trouble is, if the "Credit card debit" text is changed to "Paypal" it is going to use this amended text for actual "credit card debit" transactions, isn't it?

What I want is for Paypal transaction to have a transaction TYPE of their own.

                  Hi again

You're right Lee - I do have conversations with myself !

It's mainly the invoice I'm having a problem with - like mentioned it's a bit misleading for customers so I wanted Paypal to appear instead of 'Credit Card'

I did put a ticket in with support though and here's their reply:

Unfortunately these values are hard coded within the program and cannot be changed.

There is a wish list item in place to have them controlled by an ini file, however this has not been done yet.

                  Kind Regards,
                  Actinic Software Support

So there we go - I can stop scratching my head now (and getting splinters!)

I may carry on talking to myself though

Does anyone know if the ability to change Transaction Types in Payment History has been implemented yet?
