I am currently redesigning Actinic shop on my computer, while the original version is still being updated on different computer. Therefore the catalog on my computer is obsolete and with the launch of redesigned shop I also need up to date catalog of products. In other words I need to update just design, preserving the current catalog. I am new to Actinic and I do not know whether there is a special feature for that. Or do I have to move the catalog somehow, for example as an .mdb file and upload it on the server or onto my computer?

Yup - It should be fairly easy as you are redesigning the layout not the catalog I think you are saying. You should use export not export site which should grab this content then use import to pull it back into the new site - although make sure you do back up the entire site (export site) in case things go wrong! Don't update/upload your site until your 100% happy.
