customer recommendations

Hi

I am wondering is there a way that you can place product recommendations dependent on what product the customer has placed in their cart. for instance if you put a bed frame in the cart, then you would be able to offer certain mattresses that would be suitable with that product?

any ideas?

This is available in version 8 as 'Related Products' which can be specified against each individual product.

Well worth the upgrade cost for this type of application.

For what its worth, in my opinion I find "related products" can be pointless and annoying.

Yes i am interested in essential products in modular 'kit style selection', products but if I buy a bed and someone tells me I may be interested in blankets i think doh! Never!

I may be interested in blankets if I buy a bed and the blankets are half price?
