Website advertising/ affiliate marketing

I have some companies interested in advertising on my site when it goes live and I would like to insert box ads linking through to their sites.

How would I insert the ads into either the header or side bar of the "clean layout" I have chosen? (layout 12) Ideally I would like 2 or 3 down the right hand sidebar maybe a larger banner across the header etc, etc.

In addition, what is the best way of monitoring the success of these ads and successfully managing lead and commission payments from advertisers?

I can't help you with your second question, but to get the ads into your design, you need to edit the Overall Layout template for your store. This is normally called 'Act_Primary.html' and it can be found in your site folder (normally 'Site1').
