    Add text to a page

    Hi

Sorry if this seems obvious, but I'm stuck with it (V7)

I'd like to have my Section Descriptions showing on each section at the bottom of the page. - (Section > General Tab > Description)

    Is this possible?

Failing this - what would be the best way to add text manually to the bottom of each section?

    Thanks in advance,
    Harry

breadcrumbs are fine, thanks for the advice, but what I want is a paragraph or several paragraphs of text.

The end result is larger images when you click on the thumbnail, and a description of the artist at the bottom of the page. This description would (ideally) be generated from the section description text.

Can anyone help? Or any workarounds?

      Grateful for any assistance,
      Thanks

Add a 'text-only' fragment then and embed your code within it.

What exactly do you mean - edit every HTML page for each section manually?

Won't this be overwritten when the pages are next uploaded? Or am I missing something?

          Cheers,
          Harry

If you want the same text on every page, then you could include the code into the overall layout, so it repeats everywhere you use the layout. If you want it tailored to specific pages, then you would need to do it separately as mentioned above.

              Breadcrumbs
              .... am I missing something?

              Harry,

I think what you may be looking for is to modify your Primary template and add/move NETQUOTEVAR:SECTION TEXT. Simply place this where you want it, and the existing section description will appear.

To test, copy the Primary template from the Section(s) in question, e.g. Act_Primary.html to My_Primary.html, add the NQV above where you want it to appear on the page, at the bottom, and just use this template on one section and check it out.

If you like it, add it up a level and change Section Layouts to "Use Parent", and all sections below that level will change.... as if by magic.

              Simon.

Simon - that sounds like just the ticket. I thought it was possible, just didn't know how. I shall give that a try over the next couple of days.

                Thank-you for your help.

NQV: SECTIONTEXT will not work in the Act_Primary.html .. it will only work at the section level from the Act_SectionLine.html template (this was a major draw back in v7 that v8 resolved with site wide variable placements)

Harry - I don't think anyone is 100% sure exactly what you are after ... can you point us to a page on your site and describe what you are after and where.

Not wanting to mince with you, JonT, but it does in mine?

Maybe crossing wires but if you look at one of my catalogue pages, e.g.
                    http://www.esafetysigns.co.uk/acatal...-download.html

You will notice a Hazard Warning image (big yellow triangle), the title for this page, "Hazard Warning", and then the description of this page below it "Safety signs to identify potential dangers...etc"

I get this by having the following in my Primary template, as recommended by Bill when I first joined the forum:

                    CUSTOMVAR:SECTIMAGE2
                    NETQUOTEVAR:PAGEHEADER
                    NETQUOTEVAR:SECTIONTEXT

This allows me to transfer section detail down through my catalogue pages.

But I agree, maybe Harry you could show us some pages he likes or are trying to mod.

                    Thanks, Simon.
