Showing 'In-Stock' Products to customers

Hi all, thanks for reading my little question.

I am looking to be able to display to my customers which products I currently hold in stock.

When a customer is viewing products in our store, there is currently no indication to weather a particular item is in stock or not. I have found the settings in 'business settings' tab which enables me to prevent people from purchasing out of stock items, but what I really want, is to show the customer that the item they are looking at is in stock and they can purchase it now.
I am not wanting to show the numbers of stocks held, but simply a ''This item is in Stock'' label or similar, next to each item.
Does anyone know any way of creating this through the actinic settings? or even someones actinic site I could view for help.

Can you not just use the built in stock control for each product?
That way, when an item sells and the site is updated with the new stock levels, it will show an "out of stock" message for anything with a zero stock level and customers will see that it is not available.

I'm more after what Alan has said rather than yourself Tracey.
I want the customer to be reassured that an item IS in stock, rather than just notified when out or stock.
Thanks for the help, I'll have a play around with alans link tonight I reckon.
