    Today's SEO question - acatalog

For a site which has a couple of keywords which cover (with others) every product eg "walking sticks", is there currently any SEO benefit from renaming the "acatalog" folder to give:

    http://www.my-walking-stick-site.com...ng-stick1.html

or even get rid of it altogether:

    http://www.my-walking-stick-site.com...ng-stick1.html

    ??

PS if the forum truncates the URLs I have suggested, roll the mouse over them and the full version should appear bottom left of your browser

    there certainly is.

    try googling this:

    inurl:acatalog

    and this:
    google search for 'acatalog'

now, if the folder name wasnt seo sensitive, why would its name appear bold in the search?

also, i'd use mod rewrite to 'rename' your folder. its ultra complexity if you do it any other way.

This is apparently in the wishlist of the dev team to enable a rename facility. Whether it hits V9 or not is another story.

I still marvel at how we all campaigned for years to get actinic to split data and program files across 2 folders - we were told it was very complex to do.

Then lo and behold it was a fix that was required for Vista and it got acheived in 10 mins!!

Maybe we can put a bug in vista that it will refuse to deal with acatalog then we will get the facility to rename it.
