Is it possible to have the shopping cart page use the Act_Primary_Checkout.html template instead of Act_Primary.html? My problem is that I have a java applet running on the Primary template that doesn's show on the shopping cart page because it runs from the cgi-bin. Placing the class file in the cgi-bin doesn't work and I don't really want any additional stuff on the shopping cart page anyway. If anyone has a solution to this I'd be grateful to hear it.

You should be able to select the template used in site options (v7 you can so I hope v6 is the same)

Alas, Version 6 does not have the option for Cart layout. Wondered if there was any other way around it?

i would have to re-install v6 to answer this. although I am pretty sure you can designate Act_Primary_Checkout.html template instead of Act_Primary.html. i did it for surf-wax

found v4,5,6 on another PC!! Lost 3 through

V6 go to Design options Layout tabs (the same as v7)

Unless I'm missing something I cannot see a layout option for the shopping cart in Version 6. There is:
Default Overall
Login Page
Front Page
Checkout Pages
Receipt Page

That's it.

Ok assuming you have

CheckoutPages Layout using Act_PrimaryCheckout.html in said design options

Can you edit the cart detail within the template - Act_ShoppingCart.html or Act_ShoppingCartXML.html ?

Yes I can edit Act_ShoppingCartXML.html but how does that help me? It seems that the shopping cart is not included in the Checkout pages and so uses the Primary template instead.

final guess, what you are looking for may be in shoppingcart.pl

Can't find any recognisable reference to the template the shopping cart uses, but then I am not a programmer and would only change something if it was glaringly obvious.
I will pursue this. any further clues very welcome.
