Actinic:baseref / login problem

I have a site running completely on SSL. When browsing as an unregistered customer the baseref is https:// and so you browse as secure, however, when you log in the baseref becomes http:// (no 's') and so any images etc with relative src etc cause the page to generate warnings for insecure elements

Any ideas would be welcomed...

A URL and a test username and password will help...
