Transferring V7 to a new machine

Can you point me to the correct thread if it already exists or otherwise can you advise?

My catalog PC has died and I need to move Actinic V7 (latest upgrade) to a new PC (Win XP SP2). Unable to access site.

My Hard drive from the old PC is OK so the files are all on there. Will get a caddy to do transfer.

    Thanks in advance.

    From out of my head...

Install the same full version of Actinic on the new PC.
Import the latest snapshot into the new PC.
Copy over all of the Site1 folder from the old machine and overwrite all the files on the new PC.
Copy over any other supporting files that are used - make sure they are in exactly the same directory paths as before.

You should then be up and running.

Hope you have good backups - it could've been your hard drive that failed!

Thanks Duncan, I never cease to be amazed at the level of support we get from you guys. Keep up the good work.

Yes, I do have good backups, but luckily the HD is OK - it's some sort of PSU failure.

I take it that I will not need any sort of activation support from Actinic then?

        Nope

your key is good to go.

Main reason for actinic notification could be change of domain, business ownership, that kind of thing.

          Wow, that was quite painless!
I needed the product key from my original Actinic CD, and copying the SITE1 files should be done after starting the new Actinic download and not before like I did - DOH! Now up and running on www.bowstock.co.uk and a trial purchase worked fine.

          Thanks once again.
