    Contact form problems

    hello all,

we are having trouble with our email form - link here. The problem occurrs when we go to send an email, it just times out and produces the following message:

    [QUOTE]Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
    [QUOTE]

Could anyone please advise us how to rectify this issue.

    Thanks Aran

Try running a network test and see what error messages are returned.

      Hi Duncan,

Upon running the network test, we found it times out on Testing CGI script settings and gave the following message:

The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts.

Does this spread anymore light on a possible solution?

      Thanks Aran

Check the permissions of the cgi-bin and acatalog directories (to be 755).

If you still have no luck then post your network settings (withour usernames and passwords) in the upload forum (http://community.actinic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9). Also include your host, the package your on and any error messages.

It is better to keep all upload and network related posts together.

          Internal Server Error
Contact your host and ask if they have changed anything.

All other scripts are working fine, thus i doubt if its host related.

I'd return to the contact form layout or script with a view to remembering if you changed anything.

When i go to the form to send it does nothing on pressing "SEND" (IE6)

Something else fishy - some of the nav links in the honepage tree direct to Actinic: http://community.actinic.com/acatalog/Hard_Drives.html

This was the subject of other posts a while back.

What do you have as the SMTP Server address?

Should be on localhost without any username or password options enabled.

A big thank you to all who posted,

In the end it was down to having the wrong smtp settings. Doh!

                    Thank you Aran
