Link to search result without Session ID?

    Hi all,

Does anyone if it is possible to create a link that will re-create an Actinic search result? Reason I ak this is because we want to create some Google Adwords for manufacturers, so when they click the ad it brings up all of the products we offer by this manufacturer.

However, whenever we do a search in Actinic for the manufacturer name, then copy the search results link and put it into Adwords, it does not re-create the search results, as the search results contain a session ID.

I am sure this must be a simple thing, but having search the forum for over an hour I couldn't find anything specifically related to this.

Alternatively, should we put them into groups? And if we do this, how do we find the link that related to that group? Also, can a product be in more than one Group? I ask this as certain products are already in discount groups..

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Best wishes,

    Jan (i-Sounds)

    No ideas?

No ideas at all on how to do this? I would have thought this is possible? Please can someone get back to me if they know any way this can be done?

    Best wishes,

Run the search, view the source code, copy the links list off into a text only fragment on a new page (tidy up the html as necessary) and publish the new page as the landing page for your ad

BUT - don't google require that you land on a product page with a buy button?

        Hi Bill,

Thanks for your suggestion. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I got a bit lost where you said view source, then copy the links list off into a text only fragment on a new page? What is the links list? Also, if it just text only, does this mean there will be no pictures?

I was ideally looking for a way to remove the session i.d. from the search results link so that it will do a fresh search in our store when they click the link, because our manufacturers update their products monthly, which means creating new pages every time they do will be very time-intensive. Is this possible?

I have been linking to our sections on adwords and never had a problem, and there is no Buy button on there. Thanks again for your help Bill, sorry to appear like a thicko, but I am still learning the nuances of Actinic

Look forward to hearing from you,

        Best wishes,

        Jan (i-Sounds)

The links list is the result of your search, and will include links to images if you show those in your current search results.

Text only is a type of fragment that allows you (using the !!< beginning marker and >!! end marker) to include html code into the innerlayout of an otherwise empty page centre.

This would give you a fixed result.

Make the link url in the format
          Code:
          http://www.egyptianwonders.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000077.pl?page=search&PR=-1&TB=A&SS=red+glass&ACTION=quick+search
replacing egyptianwonders.co.uk with your domain and the 77 part of ss000077.pl with your script id number and red+glass with the search term you want results for....
