Very Very Slow Site - Any Ideas?

I will try the host first then Duncan, seems to strange that one site is running at a decent speed and the other is well...... not

The fact that the hosts own website won't load makes me think they have a temporary problem. Probably one set of servers in a problem location, whilst another set of servers are ok

I think you may be right there Jo - and if they are not I will look to move hosts - talking of moving hosts, I have a couple of questions you may be able to answer

We have 7 actinic sites, i need to find out whether a dedicated server to house all 7 would be a good idea, to stick them all on the same box.

uncomplicated answer to that is a DS tends to be more reliable therefore there is less risk of a DS going down than if you had all sites on the same shared host. Of course if you put all 7 sites with 7 different hosts you also minimise your risk, but there is still more risk than one of those 7 on shared will go down than the whole DS going down. Those 7 sites will always be slower and have to contend for disk resources and bandwidth so there general performance will be sub standard in comparision to running on a DS


The benefits of a DS include

Faster sites - total control of your environment
no risk of neighbouring sites doing stuff that impacts upon your own site

Hi all

Just uploaded our store to a demo server we use to test on and it seems to run fine on this one. It does seems there is something wrong with the server that the site is hosted on as when I add the product below to the basket it seems to add it in an acceptable time frame
