upgrade issue

Just ran the VISTA upgrade


Now have non functional Actinic (sniff, always seems to be me)


Error Messages is;

Actinic failed to open the database DSN=ActinicOriginal7.
The database may be corrupt or the version may be newer than expected.
This prevents Actinic working.

The error was:

Could not find file '(unknown)'.
Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed


Click on OK, then get MDAC warning..... am sure I running latest version ( but MDAC checker doesn't recognise)

Are you using Actinic V7 patch 07 as this is the only v7 that is vista compatible

Look like i fixed problem

Reboot PC, download and install FULL version of 7.07...

seems to work...... cross fingers


BTW the reason I moved to 7.07 was Paypal advised me that I need latest catalogue to run Paypal Payments Pro..... seem they mean 8.50... is it true that Paypal Payments Pro needs 8.50? will it work with 7.07?

The reason I ask is none of the info on Actinic Website and Paypal website says 8.50 only the Paypal Pro.pdf does.

Hopefully the end of this saga... BUT I seem to have recovered all f my Actinic database... yeah


You might not know of it but there is a rather undocumented feature of Visat called virtual cache which seems to stores recently deleted/modifed files... thanks to this I found an uptodate copy of my .mdb file....

I thank whoever at Microsoft who thought of this feature, saved 5 months of work... even if part time

do a forum search on Paypalpro before making the decision to use it as PSP, there are alot of people unhappy with it

PPP is not all its cracked up to be, the Actinic integration is somewhat clumsy.

Just research it before you decide
