    Bogus error?

    Hi all

One of our customer sites is logging the following error message 2 or 3 times per day in error.err:

"The site configuration has been updated by the shop operator while you are checking out. Please navigate back to the product pages by pressing the Browser Back button and try again or contact the site owner."

The error message suggests that the site is being updated. However, we know that this is not the case as the site only gets updated about once per week.

Is there another reason why this error is being logged? Apparently no shoppers have complained about not being able to place an order, but the error message suggests that some shoppers may have had difficulties.

    Any ideas?

    Regards

    Hi Nick

What version of the software is your customer using? There was a bug in early v6 that caused this error to be shown in an SSL checkout area (article here).

      Hi Ben

The site (www.accessorystore.co.uk) is using 6.1.3 and has been since this release became available.

The error message has been occuring fairly regularly since 12th July (which, although I'm not sure, maybe around the time that we upgraded it).

The site is using Worldpay, although I doubt that has any bearing on the issue.

Also, the site is configured to send a copy of the order confirmation email to one of our client's addresses and they reckon that not all of these emails are being received. This is probably an unrelated issue...... any ideas?

        dunno if this is relevant

but...more than a couple of my clients have said that when they have deleted parts of the catalog, or changed them around, they have uploaded, actinic hasnt purged the deleted files from the website correctly...all on various releases of v6...the client who told me about this had to delete all pages in his site html folder before uploading i think...and THEN actinic purged deleted pages from the server...

if your websurfers are seeing an old deleted page that should have been purged, this could cause your error..

may be totally unconnected but sometimes....

i am due to raise ticket with actinic about this one, just waiting for full description of issues from my client..

Do the sites have any external links that use the referrer script? There was a problem (fixed in v6.1.2) with the referrer script that caused the session file to expire prematurely (kb article). The online shopper would experience the same error message that you have, above. It may be worth checking that any referrer links are using the v6.1.3 script and not an old one.

            Hi Ben

Yes, the site (www.accessorystore.co.uk) is using an affiliate scheme that relies upon referrer.pl and this script had not been upgraded when we upgraded the site to 6.1.3

I've copied the new referrer.pl script to the site and it looks ok at the moment.

            Thanks for your help
