Listing the website in google etc..

Hey there, I have another little question and hope that somebody is able and willing to answer it .
So well, I'm wondering how it is possible to get my website in search engines like google, yahoo etc.. without having to pay for it.
If anybody knows how, I'd be very glad!

well, the most obvious way would be to ensure Google will 'like your site'.
Searching the forum for SEO info would be a good start,

After that, i would suggest submitting a XML Sitemap to Google, using their Webmaster Tools. (requires a Google account but they are free anyway) That will make sure that the big googly one knows your site exists, But as mentioned above you need to make sure your SEO is up to scratch for it to rank highly.

I think Jan at mole end has a gizmo that will create a Google compatible XML site map thingy.

Also, remember once your site is listed in Google, it may still take a few weeks (even months) for it to start ranking you highly)

As mentioned above get an xml site map on your site.

You will never need to pay to be listed on Google. You should only consider paying for SEO advice if you feel you cannot optimize your pages yourself.

Search the forum here and you will find loads of information about things you can do to inprove your listing in Google.

First of all just make sure you have good related content on your site. Then find ways to get high quality incoming links.
