You didn't mention who your host was. Check with them to see if they allow SMTP - some hosts don't.

Using a local mail client is quite different to using a script to send messages that lives on your server. The perl files on the server are 'local' to the host whilst your mail client is local to you.

Some hosts do not allow scripts to send mail in order to stop spamming. There was an instance a couple of days ago on the forum where someone came across a similar issue and was trying alternative ports to port 25. You might want to look this up and give it a read.

I have checked with my host and yes they take stmp

          They say it should be

          smtp server : mail.rollsroycecarparts.co.uk
          user : sales@rollsroycecarparts.co.uk
          password : xxxxxxx

I have also changed the port from 25 to 587 as the you said, but this does not change any thing.

I still get the same error.

          Is it AOL?

            Is it AOL?

Quite possibly. They seem to think they are Google and allowed to interfere in everything you do.

I was forced to use them during my recent month in the UK, and they constantly tried to tell me that multiple destination mail I was sending from my website was spam. Nothing to do with them. It was not being sent from an AOL account, it was not being sent by an AOL user - all they were being asked to do was carry the text to the website with a request that the website send the mail.

One attempt out of six would work, then they would refuse to allow certain addresses (including sending from one account to another within the same domain).

Get a real ISP as soon as you can.

BTW - to check if it is AOL, take the laptop/PC with the site on it (or a snapshot, if Actinic is already available) to a location with a real ISP connection and try the upload from there.

Whenever i get a phonecall about a problem, i have two questions i ask to start off with:

              Are you using AOL?
              Do you have Norton installed?

90% sucess rate at getting a yes to at least one of those questions without doubt.

                LOL

I have both on the pc

So i need to get a new ISP and take norton off and change to port back to 25

                Is that right?

Agreed and if it is not the best move you have ever made, it is a huge step in the right direction.

I don't think there is such a thing, it's more a list of who to stay away from to be honest. AOL being top by a mile.

it also depends on what is available to your geographic location.

IMO if you have the option of a cable provider, go for them otherwise go for a household name

I can confirm that AOL will not allow Actinic to work correctly with regard to emails - bin them asp.

I wouldn't recommend AOL either, was with them before and they were terrible. Take a look here, http://www.moneysupermarket.com/broadband/ it'll give you a good indication. Eclipse and Madasafish seem to be the best on the site, but to be very honest, I have never heard of them
