Free shipping only for certain parts of the country

Hi

I'm quite concerned about the free shipping side of things. I offer free shipping to customers in England, Wales and Scotland for orders over £60. I also ship to other areas, like the Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands and, due to the courier cost, cannot offer free shipping on orders going there.

It seems that the free shipping that one can set up automatically applies to all areas to which one ships. I thought of setting up a "free shipping" Zone & Class, but that leads me to the other problem (which I have raised before), that, once a customer has selected a zone, they can never select another one as it automatically comes up on their order next time (or is that only if they ticked the box to be remembered). So, if they order over £60's worth of goods one time and select the "free shipping", any future orders will automatically be set as "free shipping" regardless of the value.

I can't even test the shipping charges part of the website because it has remembered where I said I was from the first time I did a test order and I can't select another area.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Why not call the classes the same as the areas of the country rather than free shipping, who in their right mind would not choose free shipping if it was an option? If they are called after where they live, stands a great chance most can manage to get through then.

Actinic 'remembers' things like location with a cookie on your PC. Just clear all cookies related to the website from your browser, and then you can select a new location.
