Downloading orders

what file am i looking for for the orders?

Hi again,

think i found the order files and the orders seem to be ok again now.

Problem is there's 30 or so which they don't have as they seem to have dissappeared from the server.

Would i be right in thinking there's no way to get these back?

well, if you dont think about it, it cant possibly bother you, so dont think about it, becasue the answer is most certainly, that they are lost.

Can't you trace them through paypal?

If they're gone then they can't be recreated. Your host might have a backup before whatever happened did happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

This kind of thing can sometimes happen if something goes wrong on the web server. The only real way to move forward is to contact the customer and try to get their order details from them.

To minimise the disruption from this kind of problem, some of us set up actinic to send a copy of the customer order email to our account. This way we have a backup system if the order files go missing. Doesn't help if the emails also get lost though.

i'd love to forget about it but don't think the customer will...!

the emails weren't working either so there's no backup. They have the emails from PayPal so i guess they'll jus have to go back to each customer and ask them to say what they ordered.

Does anyone know what that message meant?

Yes it will - when the emails stopped this was the time when your server went down so nothing worked. The orders that were on the server were lost when your host installed a backup which may have been several days old. Ring them up or look at thier status page and see what has been happening

no it won't, the email problem has been since May, this only happened yesterday afternoon.
