Search Error - HELP - Undefined Property in search (S_GENRE1_0)

    Hello,

I have a serious issue with our Search not working, and I wondered if anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong? Basically, I am getting this error when I search for something at our site...

    Undefined Property in search (S_GENRE1_0)

Under "Search Settings" in Actinic I have GENRE and on our product pages it is defined underproperties as searchable and customvar.

    My customsearch2 reads as follows:

    Text!SS!TB
    Text Property!S_GENRE1_0
    And
    Text Property!S_MANUFACTURER1_1
    And
    Text Property!S_FORMAT1_2
    And

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? As far as I can see I have definied the attribute and followed all of the relevant instructions posted here on the forums? Look forward to hearing from you.

    Best wishes,

    Jan (i-Sounds)

you need to undo the coding changes you have made and reapply them, stage by stage to see where you are adding in the error

and followed all of the relevant instructions posted here on the forums?
    or show us the template

      Hello,

Thanks for your post. Yes, I have followed all of suggestions in the previous posts. I have a backup of the Site1 Folder from the day before the error. I have tried to re-trace my steps, but I think the fatal mistake was removing GENRE from the Search Setting "properties" section (as it was buggering up the search results and I wanted to make some changes) then re-adding it back in. After this it did not work! My fault I know!

Can you tell me which are the relevant files I need to copy back into the current Site1 folder to get the search working again? Is it as easy as copying them back?

A site refresh and re-upload is far from ideal as we sell around 50GB of digital download files, and at 256k upload speed would take a week to upload (or close to) and during this time we will be getting orders. I think we might have to open a new download store or something to get around this. Unless Actinic8 deals with it in a different way?

Thanks again for your help Jo, I really appreciate it. Look forward to hearing from you,

      Best wishes,

      Jan (i-Sounds)

        Whi Template?

        Hi Jo,

Is it the search.html template (site1/siteHTML) that you want to see?

        Best wishes,

        Jan

You need to replace the templates you have changed, ideally you will have taken a backup of these before changing the originals.

Otherwise go to the themes/format folder and get the originals from there.

Or revert to a working snapshot

I have already pasted in the older versions of the files that I have changed. However, I know Actinic makes it's own changes to files, and therefore I could do with knowing which files it changes when you make a change to the "Search Settings" so I can make sure I have covered everything?

I could revert to a snapshot, but we have had quite a few orders in since the 21st and we have also advertised quite a few new products. Am I right in thinking that if I revert to the previous snapshot I will lose the updates? Also, will I have to refresh to site (or will it try to re-upload our 50GB digital downloads).

I appreciate your help Jo. Any advice would be great.

            Best wishes,

you are over complicating the issue, actinic will undo its own changes if you revert the search settings

all you need to do is go back to the search settings as they were, and revert to the original templates.

ie you will have to retrace your steps, if you can not go back to a safe snapshot

                Hi Jo,

Thanks for getting back. I reverted everything yesterday, however, I will see if I missed anything, I don't think so though. I will be back in touch when I have done some further investigation. Thanks again,

                Best wishes,

Re-traced Steps - Still not Working

                  Hi Jo,

I have re-traced my steps completely and have reversed the changes as suggested. I have done this by going through my "modified files" from yesterday's date and replacing them with files from the backup. I have done an Actinic upload but I am still getting the error when trying to search:

                  Undefined Property in search (S_GENRE1_0)

I am going to try to FTP the modified files direct to our server in case one of them didn't write correctly, however, if you have any other ideas I would love to hear them. Thank you for your advice so far. I am quite anxious to get this resolved and I appreciate your help.

                  Best wishes,

                  Jan

I'm guessing now as i can not see a live site - delete the customvar s you created and make sure you do not reference them anywhere in the templates.

This may create confusion on the server - a refresh is a better way to do it. I know what you said about slow connection but you could always get someone with a better connection to do it for you.

I would suggest you re-select 'Actinic maintains search page' in 'View | Search Search Settings' and then refresh the store. This should get the search working again.

Then try creating and re-editing the customsearch2.fil file and the search.html file, replace the 'Or's with 'And's and see if it works again.

                            Hello,

I did not know I can get someone with a better connection to upload my site? I thought it has to be the computer that holds the downloads that uploads? And if this is the case then I don't know where I can take the PC to get this done. Any ideas?

With 50GB of files a site refresh will take ages at 256k upload. I would love to be able to upload faster and would be willing to pay for it!

                            Best wishes,

                              Hi Chris,

Just followed your advice regarding selecting Actinic to maintain the search and this worked fine. Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it. I will save a snapshot now and see if the editing of the other two files restores it. If not I will rever to the snapshot.

                              Thanks again!

                              Kind regards,
