    Broken HTML from Actinic

    I know nothing at all about Actinic. I'm just looking at a friends web site as he asked me for my opinion on the site.

    One thing that I've noticed immediately is that the site HTML won't validate. This is largely because there are a number of Actinic-specific tags in the HTML.

    For example, at the top of the file there's this tag:

    <Actinic:TEMPLATE type="begin"
    filename="C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Sites\Site1\SiteHTML\SiteRoot_index.html"/>

    And further down there's another one:

    <Actinic:BASEHREF VALUE="http://www.[domain removed].co.uk" FORCED=1/>

    Obviously, any HTML page with those tags in will never validate.

    So, my question is: is that how Actinic is supposed to work, or are they just there because his site was built by someone who doesn't know how to use the product?

    Please let me know if you need any more information.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dave...

    Actinic will not validate 100%. Search on the forum for 'validate' - you will find lots of threads relating to this.

      Oh. That's not good news. Ah well, it's not a big surprise to be honest. Many big CMSs don't produce valid HTML. I wish people would stop buying them.

      I'll poke around the forum and look for other threads on this.

      Thanks.

        V7 was very poor in terms of validation but V8 is much improved and V9 is just round the corner.
