File sharing lock count exceeded (!!!!)

I'm now getting this message during the 'reviewing files' part of the site upload:
File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry.
I've tried increasing the value and uploading again but got the same message. I will increase again and try again tomorrow, but in the mean time does anyone have any clue what this is on about - or why it should suddenly start now?

Which file is it talking about? the local DB? or a server file? the default is 9500 locks, so where are they all coming from? If it's a server file does that mean customers are getting locked out too?

If it's at the reviewing files stage then I believe that's before any server connection is made so I'd would think it's a local file, Either the database or one of the other files on the PC.

I would guess the question has to be whether you have any other applications accessing the files that might still be active (access, dreamweaver, etc). Even if there are it sounds to me like a PC error and a re-start might cure it.

It worked this morning so it was either the increase to 15,000 locks or the reboot...
