    Site check please

    Hi everyone

I've not had any sales for days, with or without Adwords running!

Please can you check out www dot hairkit dot co dot uk to see if there's something wrong with the site that I'm not aware of.

    Much appreciated.
    Carlos.

Seems to work fine for me, have you checked whether your SERPs have changed recently? Might just be a seasonal thing. How long has it been since you made a sale and how often do you normally get them, probably just a blip, nothing to worry about.

well first of all, you sell sharp objects: cool

after testing an order, i see that its mostly in order, so no problems there.

1: when did your orders stop?
2: are you doing well in google?
      3: yahoo?
4: how much do you spend on adwords?
      5: are your prices competitive?
6: how new is this site?
7: will batman ever make it out alive?

            Thanks guys

The site has been running for about two years but I've just changed over to the Best Seller theme from, I forget what they call it now! Neh mind.

I've edited some of the html to add logo's etc, so was worried that maybe some people's browsers weren't displaying properly.

The site is only on page 5 of Google unfortunately when you type in hairdressing scissors, so not very good, but it's been there for a while. Can't seem to improve it, so spending about £200 per month on Adwords. Is this typical?? I expect to have at least 60-80 sales per month with Adwords running and can usually get about 30 without it running.

            Batman's time may be up!

            Thanks again
            Carlos.

The first natural result from a Google search on "hairdressing scissors" is Ebay, and I bet a lot of people go to that link. Whilst there are a lot of listings in eBay, it wouldn't be difficult to get near the top in eBay as you can see others have done, by repeating listings and "buy it now" - if you aren't on eBay already I would be tempted to do exactly what the others are doing.

                Carlos,

Your numbers look very similar to mine and I've seen a downturn over the last couple of weeks. October is a big birthday month so I would have expected better. I put it down to Northern Rock etc. making people feel nervous about speding money.

Check your stats and adword clicks - if they are the same as normal then that may indicate a problem with the site but if they have dropped then that would indicate that the drop of sales is due to eg people not shopping, google SERPs change, competitor improvements etc

I think I now know why sales are slow/non existent...

I've checked through my AWSTATS to see which pages are being visited the most and on of them that stands out is ca004292 in the cgi-bin, which is the script file for the shopping cart, except then contents of this page are an error saying ERROR Zero Sized Reply Null entry!

I tried a dummy purchase this morning and sure enough I got this error. When I click Back and try again, everything is fine, so I reckon my customers are seeing this problem for some reason and then going away from my site.

Has anyone else seen this and/or know why this might be occurring. It is not every time, but I think it is happening quite a lot.

                    Thanks
                    Carlos.

This very likely related to your SSL. I would consider using a PSP rather than collecting the cc details to enter manually. You could then do away with SSL.

EDIT: Sorry for the test order

Or at least get your own SSL certificate so it runs under your domain name. Switching to ultrasecure.biz would worry me slightly if I was paying for anything.
                        Cheers
