    Why?......

here's the official word from Microsoft in IE7 release notes:
      Thanks Mike,

That reveals the answer! It seems that Microsoft have had a re-think over this feature. As more and more people upgrade to IE7, this particular function is just not worth using. Most people won't know about altering the security settings. (Or would want to for that matter)

      Thanks again.

      Tracy,

      the people? or the links?
      LOL

      Best wishes,

      Myles

The user has ultimate control as they can always turn off javascript in their browser!

They can turn off graphics too, and just get text.

Hey, they could even turn off the computer and just use the post! LOL

or as an intelligent interface designer (and thats what the web is, an interface) you could respect their browser and keep to certain rules about the internet.

the fact is, popups, javascript dialogs, status bar 'hacks', animated gifs, useless flash, scrolling marquee tags, pointless activex plugins, embedded this and that are just destroying the web.

As george rightly put it, the browser isnt your domain, its mine.

Anyhow, i use greasemonkey to disable every annoyance.

Exactly. Just my humble of course, and as a consumer if a site fries my brain I'm off quicker than, well, something very quick.

Where do I find them? I know there are best practices, but rules?

The reverse is also true. It's the webmasters domain to do as they wish with their webspace. If the user doesn't like the result, they don't go back!

It's a bit like watching T.V. Shows. If you don't enjoy it, you watch something else. I used to hate the "Dukes of Hazard", so wouldn't watch it, but I suppose enough people liked it to justify keeping it on the air for so long.

                            Your analogy is flawed.

                            Daisy duke was a babe.

So was Linda Gray in Dallas. That I used to watch!! My analogy is back in place!
