Receipt page problem

I've taken the plunge and changed my pages to the shtml extention. This includes the index page for the shopping cart which I updated in Design/Options/Site Defaults

Everything seems to work O.K. with the order process, until it gets to the receipt page. When clicking "Done" the page url switches to index.html. This results in a page not found error.

Any clues as to how I can get the receipt page to progress to index.shtml ?
