does updating website affect orders stored?

Hi, sorry if this is answered somewhere obvious but I couldn't find it. I'm using Actinic 6 and I'd like to check that updating the website catalogue would not affect the orders stored. It seems like it shouldn't, but obviously it would be good to be sure. Answers appreciated, thanks

    updating the website catalogue
not sure what you mean by this.... do you mean adding products etc?

I suspect the simple answer is no, orders will only be deleted from the database if you mark them for deletion and then purge

Hi, thanks for answering, by updating I mean changing product details, editing the templates and choosing the 'Refresh website' option

Would the Update website option be better for this?

update website will only change the bits required, refresh removes all files and uploads everything again, so an update is always better. ie if you changed one price it would upload just the one page than contain the product with the price change.

You should only need to refresh when the site is messed up.

Order files on the server are unaffected by a Refresh.
