Schools and VAT

I had a school say they wished to place an order today, but they said that they didn't pay VAT.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct or not, and if it is how do we handle this in actinic...?

We have many orders from schools and educational establishments and they all pay VAT. Some charities/scientific research companies can be exempt from vat and you should ask for a copy of their exemption certificate. This will then cover you if the vat man visits!

seems they don't think they pay delivery charges either! just about every PO we get they miss that off...

There's a tick box called 'Allow exemption' in the tax settings.
