    Hiding products with Catalog V7

I am using V7 Catalog latest upgrade and want to offer a few 'alternative' products on-line that are not available to - or viewable by - all site visitors. I don't have a login facility with Catalog so cannot hide these in the normal way.

I would like to use Actinic if possible but don't want to spend on an upgrade for only 5 or 6 products.
Q1 - Can I do this with V7 (I looked in the Advanced User Guide but could find no way around this)?
Q2 - If not, is there any reason why a free-ware shopping cart program - like - would not run on the same server as Actinc?
Q3 - If I have to use freeware can anyone suggest something suitable for a few items?
    Many thanks

Getting replies about a competitor to commercial package on their own forum is waiting for the Mods wand of power to send you to hell

In v7 if you do not use the log in facility you will need to remove the products / sections from the main navigation so it is not available to the regular browser .. it can still be found directly via entering the URL or randomly so is not ideal. This can be done as simply as creating 2 CUSTOMVAR's and using this to insert HTML comment tags or CSS with a display:none to wrap and therefore hide certain parts of the code... some themes and site layouts are better suited to this.. but it is certainly possible.

      Thanks Jont.
I know it was a bit cheeky, but as I said I do really want to use Actinic if possible. I'l try your suggestion and make no more mention of competitors on this forum.
