    Cannot Download Orders

    Hi (again)

I thought all was ok with my site after the problems overthe weekend, however I find out today that I still cannot download orders.

I get a time out error

I tried yesterday and it dowmloaded a paypal order that i put on, but today nothing?

    Any suggestions

Sorry Brian, I think we've tried everything I can think of. It sounds like something is broken soemwhere but it's not obvious what.

If I were you I'd get actinic support on the job. They can take a look and see if they can figure it out.

    Mike

PS. If you haven't tried it yet, it's worth compacting the database just in case there's a problem there.

I'm a newbie here but have been using Actinic for more years than I care to remember ! Version 4 I started with, I think. Now on Version 7. I've often looked here but never registered as had no need. My knowledge was limited so I couldn't help anyone out and I didn't have any problems. Until now !!! I have no problems uploading but I can't get any orders. I get the following message:-

The web script was unable to open the specified file.
      Possible Cause: Permissions problems
The permissions on the acatalog directory are locked
The permissions on the file on the acatalog directory are locked
The path from the cgi-bin to acatalog directory is incorrect or the directory has been renamed or removed
      Recommendation:
      Abort
      Resolution:
Check the permissions of the web site.
The files and directories need to be readable and writable by the web server
Run the Web | Configure Web Site Details command to verify your setup

      Command: retrieve Filename:

I have tried everything I can/refreshed everything etc. etc. and checked settings but nothing seems to work !

I would be very grateful if there any kind folk on here who could maybe help an old codger out as it's the end of the month/end of the financial year and any nice credit card orders I could do with processing !!!

Best wishes to all users in any event for 2008

the error message istelling you that the permissions on the files/folders are incorrect

they need to be 755 - you do not mention that you've checked this.

Manually ftp to your site and check the permissions on the cgi-bin and acatalog folders to be 755. Perhaps your host has done an upgrade on your server and the permissions have defaulted.

You could also try a network test and check any errors returned.

Thanks for such prompt replies. I did a Network test and it seemed OK. I have spoken to my ISP as they seem always to be monkeying with the servers but they said nothing had been done
in the timeframe of this problem. Where do I find the 755 requirement ?

a quick forum search using terms such as "changing permissions" will reveal other posts discussing the same common problem

Sorry, I must be terribly thick but I have looked and looked but can't seem to find where I should find those 777 and 755 settings ! I'll try again later...

Usaing Dreamweaver I can see my site - I can see the acatalog and cgi-bin folders but when I right-click on them I am not given a "properties" option. How can I check the permissions on these folders ?

Rather use another FTP program such as SmartFTP:
                    http://www.smartftp.com/

You need above MX2004 to be able to do this

Thanks for this - I got the SmartFTP program and looked at my folders with it - acatalog was 777 and cgi-bin was 755 which is as they should be ! So I am still stuck with the original problem...
